Raj Kumar Jhabakh is a graduate of the National Law University, Jodhpur, and has been a practising advocate since 2007. His practice areas include mergers, acquisitions, strategic and financial investments, joint ventures, general corporate law advice and compliance, corporate and tax litigation, drafting, review, and negotiations of agreements related to various sectors such as Information Technology, Banking (including NBFCs), Real Estate and Pharmaceuticals.
He began his career at Tata Consultancy Services, wherein his primary focus was on reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex IT contracts, and on issues related to Cyber Laws. He subsequently went on to work with Universal Legal and Vichar Partners, two corporate law firms based in Chennai, as part of their corporate and litigation team.
At present, Jhabakh’s focus lies in providing clients with advice on corporate and commercial laws, and on strategy and pre-litigation advice. Further, he also provides companies with transaction related advice, documentation assistance for companies and funds, and conducts due diligence for real estate. Insolvency and bankruptcy and restructuring within this framework, are also his particular areas of focus, and he has successfully navigated several large-scale restructuring exercises within the framework of the IBC.
Raj Kumar Jhabakh is also a standing counsel for the Income Tax Department, and Customs and Excise Department, Ministry of Revenue, Government of India and represents them in the various fora in the state of Tamil Nadu. He is a member of Yi (Cii) and is also associated with the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation, Netherlands.
Preeti Mohan graduated in law from the ILS Law College, Pune and has been in practice since 2007. She has consistently focussed on commercial and corporate litigation, and advisory services related to dispute resolution. With over a decade of experience in her armour, she has deftly handled several complicated shareholder disputes, bankruptcy proceedings and contractual disputes.
An important focal area for Preeti is arbitration, wherein she has notably acted for, and continues to represent major corporations in the infrastructure sector, in litigation relating to several engineering and construction projects, and road projects across the country. She has also appeared in and successfully resisted constitutional challenges to the Public-Private Partnership models adopted in the road sector, and in particular, for the development of highways.
Preeti’s arbitration experience extends to the energy and power sectors as well, and includes domestic as well as cross-border disputes. She has appeared in arbitral proceedings before international bodies such as the ICC, London and the SIAC, Singapore. Further, Preeti has lent her expertise as arbitrator in several disputes, wherein she has been appointed by the parties themselves, as also the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court as arbitrator.
Corporate Restructuring is another important area of focus, where Preeti has successfully overseen the restructuring of companies in several large corporate groups, as also small and medium sized companies.
Apart from her experience and skill as a legal professional, Preeti has a deep and abiding interest in the arts and culture. This has led her to be published in several leading publications such as The Hindu & The Deccan Chronicle. She has also held positions of responsibility, including as a member of the Independent Editorial Board of a regional news channel.
Sudarshan is a Chartered Accountant and a Law graduate by Qualification. As a Foundational of International Taxation Scholar, he graduated with a Masters in International Taxation Law from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria.
His major area of focus is on International Economic Laws covering the interplay of tax, trade, investment and insolvency laws. Within these specialised domains, Sudarshan’s focus areas include cross-border and domestic business restructuring, transfer pricing, strategic advice on regulatory laws such as FEMA and FCRA. More recently, Sudarshan has expanded his focus to include sports and entertainment law, under which he provides advise on different facets of business and individuals operating in these domains. His advice ranges from review and structuring of arrangements and contracts, to giving advice on dispute resolution.
Sudarshan’s vast and substantial experience spans areas of international and domestic taxation; regulation and compliance; legal advisory services and litigation management for international entertainers, athletes, and philanthropic organisations; litigation assistance on Bilateral Investment Treaty [BIT] arbitration, to name a few.
Apart from his professional practice, Sudarshan is also actively involved in research and policy initiatives, and is currently engaged in undertaking policy and research based projects through a global tax think tank called “Global Tax Laboratory” (GTL).
